In recent times, the Buy To Let market has been influenced by growing property prices, political uncertainty and a raft of new legislation for landlords to adhere to. Many felt that private landlords were being squeezed out of the private rental market. The research outcome is therefore a welcome, positive result, indicating landlords’ resilience.
60% of those attending The National Landlord Investment Show are actively looking to invest in rental properties during 2020. Different factors drive this intention:
- 54% of participants are investing in property to plan for a pension
- 27% are investing to build for their children’s future
Interestingly, 71% of investors would prefer to invest in a residential property, whereas 23% now own a commercial property within their rental portfolio.
Tracey Hanbury, Director and Co-Founder of The National Landlord Investment Show shares her thoughts on the research findings with Property Reporter: “What this research has shown is that contrary to other opinions within the industry there are exciting times ahead for UK landlords and property professionals.
Jason Dyer of JTM Homes says: “In north London, the rental market has remained positive and the uncertainty in the market has had a greater impact upon property sales rather than lettings. It’s encouraging to see that so many people are actively seeking to invest in Buy To Let properties this year.”
